dream
early dusk waking from a dream that has your heart dampened, beating slow and heavy

I saw you cry in my dream
you held your tears
in a fist and screamed
I pinned your secrets
to the ceiling and peaked
through the lights
flickering those shivering hands
up
against the wall
on your chest and I
just sat there holding my breath counting
yours
‘till you fell asleep
and the sun finally rose
it’s the kind of dream
you wouldn’t wish for
but now
you’re not
here and it’s all I hope for and
darling once this scene is all
over all
that’s left for me is to
re cover
